Inter- School Debate Competition at
Al Barkaat Public
School

An inter school
debate competition was held at Al Barkaat Public School to hone the speaking
skills of the students and make them aware of the current hot topics of today’s
discussion.
The topics were:
“It is impossible to eliminate corruption in India” for the junior group and
“Social Networking sites should be banned” for the senior group. Around 10 prestigious schools from Aligarh
i.e. AMU City Girls’ High School, S. T.
S. High School, Ayesha Tarin Modern Public School, Heritage International
School, Iqra Public School, Our Lady Of Fatima School, St. Fedelis School, AMU
City High School(Boys) and Al Barkaat Public School took part in this
competition with full enthusiasm. The programme
started with the recitation of verses from the holy Qur’an.
Dr. Ahmad Mujtaba
Siddiqui, Joint Secretary of Al Barkaat Educational Society introduced the learned
judges and encouraged the entire participants.
Under the junior
group, Fauzia Mustafa of Our Lady of Fatima bagged the first prize. The second
prize was won by Ahmad Shoeb of St. Fidelis School while Noman Ashraf of Al
Barkaat Public School stood third. The consolation prizes were grabbed by Ufaf
Haya of Ayesha Tarin Modern School, Nikita Motwani of St. Fidelis and Mohammad
Umam as well as Syeda Fatima Zehra Zaidi of Our Lady of Fatima respectively.
Under the senior
group, Tahir Hussain of STS High School won the First Prize, Ahmad Uzair of Our
Lady Of Fatima won the second prize and Salman Mustafa of STS High School
bagged the third prize. The consolation prizes were conferred upon Ankita and
Khadeeja of St. Fidelis as well as Adeeba of AMU City Girls’ High School
respectively.
Mrs. Sabiha Khan,
Principal ABPS presided over the competition. Dr. Arman Rasool Faridi, Dr.
Raghib Gauhar, Dr. Naghma Azhar and Dr. Asif Akhtar from Aligarh Muslim
University were the judges for the
contest. Towards the end Mr. Arman Rasool
one of the esteemed judges gave students tips on the art of presenting a
good debate and also distinguished between speech and debate .
In the end, Mrs.
Tahera Husain, Vice Principal, ABPS proposed the vote of thanks. The programme
came to an end with the Tarana – e – Al Barkaat and the National Anthem.
CCA Incharge Mr.
Mahtab Ahmad, all the teachers, non teaching staff and student were present on
this occasion.
